Hikes and Walks

MORNING WALK

Our morning walk offers approximately 2-3 miles through our golf course and/or the neighborhood surrounding the course. Combining uphill, downhill, and flatter areas in and around the green, you will enjoy this peaceful start to your day, led by our trained instructors. (Level 1 – 1.5)

MODERATE NATURE TREK

If you enjoy a guided nature hike but are not ready for our more challenging Cal-a-Vie terrain, this is the perfect trek for you. You will spend approximately one hour and 1.6 miles trekking on our beautiful, milder trails. Enjoy winding around our vineyards and taking in the early morning beauty of Cal-a-Vie. The trek ends with a trainer-led hip mobility stretch sequence and then you are off to breakfast. (Level 1.5 - 2)

MORNING HIKE

For many Cal-a-Vie guests the highlight of the week is the Monday through Sunday morning hike. It is a perfect way to start the day! Starting at daybreak, these hikes include a variety of terrain, multiple types of inclines and declines, scenic vistas, luscious chaparral, and a great workout.

All within Cal-a-Vie’s spacious 400 acres, the hikes range from 2.5 miles to approximately 4 miles in length on trails hidden among the beautiful, rolling foothills that surround the spa. With spectacular views filled with serenity, the hikes consist of approximately 800-950 feet of elevation.

You will be safely guided throughout the entire hike by our trained experts. Private, guided hikes of a longer or shorter distance may be scheduled for an additional fee.

Daily Hikes:
Monday – 2.5 Miles (Level 2)
Tuesday – 3 Miles – steep inclines & declines (Level 2.5)
Wednesday – 3.2 Miles – 3 challenging hills (Level 2)
Thursday – 3.5 Miles – option to stop at halfway mark (Level 2)
Friday – 4 Miles (Level 3)
Saturday – 2 Miles plus optional 200 steps (Level 2-3)

SPA WALK/SPA HIKE (MULTI-LEVEL)

This walk/hike is typically scheduled right after lunch. It is a fun, guided exploration of the spa property. This afternoon walk may be inclusive of our Guided Nature Meditation Walk which provides a tour of the grounds specifically to discover our cultivated flora and fauna. If you prefer something a bit more strenuous, we may include a challenging uphill trek topped off with an amazing view! (Level 2)

HIKE THROUGH THE VINEYARDS

A perfect post-lunch activity, this hike takes you through the beautiful vineyards at Cal-a-Vie Health Spa. Observe the creation of our superb wine, nurtured on the France-inspired grounds of Cal-a-Vie Health Spa. The rolling terracotta hills provide an ideal micro-climate for cultivating our unique and refined wines which are ranked among the best in the renowned North San Diego wine country. This hike offers a true Chateau Cal-a-Vie Wine experience. (Level 2)

Fitness Classes

BACK TO BASICS

Learn proper form for traditional weighted exercises like a squat, lunge, dead lift, and other exercises that if done improper can lessen their efficacy and lead to injury. Start off your trip with proper alignment and form to carry you through the rest of your fitness classes here at Cal-a-Vie Health Spa. (Level 1)

BAGS, JABS, & ABS

Step into a high-energy, sweat-drenched session that combines the best of boxing and core conditioning. In this fast-paced, music-driven class, you’ll unleash stress on the heavy bag with crisp jabs, powerful hooks, and explosive combinations. Between rounds, we hit the floor for targeted ab burners that sculpt, strengthen, and define your midsection. Come ready to sweat, punch, and power your way to a stronger, leaner you. (Level 2.5-3)

BALANCE WITHIN

Balance Within is designed to help improve your deep inner strength and balance to support everyday movement and exercise. You will be introduced to techniques and practices incorporating all 3 systems of equilibrium: proprioceptive, vestibular, and visual. This class empowers you both mentally and physically. You will leave moving with confidence and agility. (Level 1)

BODYWORKS

If strength and endurance are both areas where you need improvement, then this class is for you. Bodyworks is exclusively designed to improve your knowledge of free weights and associated variations that will keep your workout fresh and forever challenging. Using platforms and/or benches we give options for increasing or decreasing the degree of difficulty to meet you where you are at. This class will give you a serious whole-body workout, and plenty of ideas to take home with you. (Level 2-3)

BODYWORKS: FITNESS FOR MENOPAUSE

Feel strong, balanced, and empowered through every stage of menopause! This uplifting class is designed specifically for women navigating perimenopause, menopause, and beyond. You’ll enjoy a blend of strength training, low-impact cardio, balance drills, and flexibility exercises—crafted to boost bone density, improve muscle tone, enhance mobility, and support overall vitality. (Level 2)

BOSU BOOTCAMP

This is a full-body workout using the legendary BOSU Balance Trainer. Bosu Bootcamp will challenge your strength, cardio, core, and coordination—all at once. Expect heart-pumping intervals, muscle-toning moves, and balance-boosting drills that keep your body guessing and your mind engaged. The unstable surface of the BOSU Balance Trainer forces your muscles to work harder, helping you burn more calories and build functional strength. (Level 2.5)

BURN & FIRM

Turn up the heat and sculpt your dream body in our high-energy Burn & Firm class! This dynamic workout blends calorie-torching cardio with muscle-toning strength training for the ultimate full-body burn. This prop-centered class is a guest and instructor favorite. The use of free weights and bands will enable the focused toning of specific muscle groups throughout your upper body, creating a gratifying burn. To firm up your abs and glutes we add ankle weights to the mix. It will make your whole body hurt so good. (Level 2)

BRAZILIAN BOOTY

Step into the rhythm of Rio and give your glutes the attention they deserve! This high-energy, lower-body–focused workout fuses Brazilian dance vibes, resistance training, and booty-sculpting moves to lift, round, and tone from every angle. Brazilian Booty focuses on all three major muscles of the buttocks from different angles. Think: a variety of squats, lunges, bridges, band work, and more. This upbeat class will help relieve back pain, and lift, shape, and tone your derriere. (Level 2.5-3)

CAL-A-VIE BOOTCAMP

Take fitness fun outdoors with our Cal-a-Vie Bootcamp. Led by experienced trainers, each session is packed with functional exercises like running, interval training, plyometrics, and body weight exercises to keep you on your toes and moving. You will burn calories, build strength, and boost endurance — all while soaking up Vitamin D. No two classes are the same, so you’ll never get bored, and modifications ensure fitness safety with every new challenge. (Level 2-3)

CAL-A-VIE H.I.I.T. (HIGH INTENSITY INTERVAL TRAINING)

Using our fully equipped Weight Room, this CrossFit-inspired class is broken into 3 segments of maximum effort using strength, plyometric, aerobic, anaerobic, and core exercises, then finishing with a good stretch. Each station is 45 seconds long, with no down time. You will be moving quickly to keep your heart rate up, making it through each of the stations 3 times for a most intense workout. (Level 3)

CARDIO ABS

Cardio Abs is inclusive of aerobic, anaerobic, and abdominal conditioning. Use of cardiovascular machines – such as the treadmill, stair climber, bike, and elliptical – will boost your heart rate. Exercises for targeted abdominal strengthening and intertwined with the cardio are. The class structure is 15 min. Cardio, 15 min. Abdominal, 15 min. Cardio, resulting in a balanced workout of combined conditioning and strength. (Level 2-3)

CARDIO BLAST

This format focuses entirely on aerobic and anaerobic conditioning. Like Cardio Abs you will be using cardiovascular machines (treadmill, stair climber, bike, and elliptical), but in Cardio Blast, you will work on becoming specifically familiar with your aerobic and anaerobic zones. These zones are achieved through alternating the machines used, and varying the speeds, inclines, and resistance. *By request (Level 2-3)

CARDIO DRUMMING

In Pound Cardio Drumming you will tap into your rhythm and have a blast while boosting strength in both your body and mind! This workout combines drum-inspired moves to strengthen your core, improve your balance, and sharpen your focus. As you amp up your heart rate to keep the beat with your instructor, you will boost coordination, memory, and mental sharpness. Other benefits include a strong back and upper body. This class turns exercise into a lively, joyful party! (Level 1-2)

CARDIO RESISTANCE

Get ready to power up your workout with Cardio Resistance — the class that keeps your heart pumping while building lean, strong muscles. This class uses state-of-the-art cardio equipment, combined with strategically timed resistance intervals (15 min. cardio, 15 min. resistance, 15 min. cardio). Whether you’re sprinting or pushing through strength circuits, every move is designed to challenge your whole body and keep your workout exciting from start to finish. (Level 2-3)

CARDIO SCULPT

Turn up the energy and transform your workout with Cardio Sculpt—the perfect blend of heart-pumping cardio and full-body strength training. This high-energy class combines dynamic, rhythm-based cardio bursts with targeted muscle-sculpting exercises, giving you a total-body burn that boosts endurance, builds lean muscle, and torches calories. Get ready to sweat, sculpt, and shine—your strongest self-starts here. (Level 2.5)

CHAIR STRENGTH AND TONE

Build strength, improve posture, and boost your energy—all from the comfort of a chair! This low-impact class is perfect for beginners, active older adults, or anyone wanting a joint-friendly workout. Using light weights, resistance bands, and your own bodyweight, we’ll target all major muscle groups to help you tone, strengthen, and stay mobile. If taking Chair Strength and Tone, expect easy-to-follow moves, upbeat music, and a supportive atmosphere where everyone can feel successful. (Level 1-2)

CLUB BOX

Step into the ring—without the bruises. Club Box is a high-energy, music-driven boxing workout that blends authentic boxing techniques with heart-pumping conditioning. You will jab, cross, hook, and uppercut your way through rounds of shadowboxing, heavy bag drills, and functional strength moves. This powerful class incorporates boxing combinations and challenging speed and agility drills. It’s a total athletic body workout incorporating cardiovascular and strength exercises. (Level 3)

CORE GALORE

Get ready to fire up your midsection like never before! Core Galore is a dynamic, high-energy class designed to sculpt, strengthen, and define your entire core—from your abs and obliques to your lower back and deep stabilizing muscles. Using a powerful mix of bodyweight moves, resistance training, and functional exercises, you will torch calories, boost posture, and build rock-solid stability. Every class is fast-paced, fun, and packed with variety to keep your muscles guessing and your energy high. (Level 2.5)

FITNESS FOR POST-MENOPAUSE

Empower your body and mind with this uplifting, full-body workout designed specifically for women navigating life after menopause. Our class blends strength training, low-impact cardio, core stability, and flexibility work to help protect bone density, boost metabolism, and improve balance. Each session is tailored to support joint health, improve muscle tone, and increase energy—so you can move with confidence and freedom in everything you do. (Level 1)

FREE WEIGHT CIRCUIT

Get ready to power up your workout! Our Free Weight Circuit blends the efficiency of circuit training with the muscle-building benefits of dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells, and more. You’ll move through a series of strength-focused stations targeting every major muscle group, keeping your heart rate up while sculpting lean muscle. In this circuit class you will learn proper form, technique, and new exercises to uplevel your workout. This class is fast-paced, form-focused, and results-driven. (Level 2)

FUNctional FITNESS

Our FUNctional Fitness class blends strength, cardio, mobility, and balance training into one high-energy session designed to make you stronger for everything you do outside the gym. In this non-stop, fat-burning functional movement class, you lift, push, pull, jump, twist to train movements, not just muscles. Every workout is a fresh challenge as no two classes are the same. Join us and turn your “workout” into “playtime with a purpose.” (Level 2)

GLORIOUS GLUTES

Step onto the treadmill and power your way to peach perfection. This is not your average walk in the park—our Glorious Glutes class is a high-energy, booty-sculpting session that blends incline sprints, hill climbs, and resistance intervals to lift, firm, and shape your backside. You will start with a 10-minute warm up on the treadmill before progressively increasing the incline to get the glutes firing. You will then move to the floor for some glute-specific exercises like squats, lunges, bridges, and more! (Level 2)

GOLDEN FITNESS FOR SENIORS

Golden Fitness for Seniors is a vibrant, welcoming exercise class designed specifically for older adults who want to stay active, healthy, and energized—no matter their fitness level. Our expert instructors provide clear guidance, encouragement, and modifications to make every exercise safe and effective. You will enjoy a mix of light cardio to boost heart health, resistance work for muscle strength, stretching to maintain mobility, and balance work to reduce the risk of falls. All routines are thoughtfully designed to enhance everyday activities. Chairs are optional for seated or standing support. (Level 1-2)

HAPPY HIPS MOBILITY CLASS

The Happy Hips Mobility class is designed to improve hip mobility, strengthen your hips, and help reduce lower back pain. It includes gentle stretches and strengthening exercises that make your hips more flexible and stable. The benefits include improved range of motion and flexibility in your hips, midsection strength to support your body, and reduced tension and discomfort in your lower back. Doing this routine regularly can help you move with freedom and comfort, with hips that are healthy and happy! (All Levels)

HAVE A BALL

Tired of the same old workouts? It’s time to have a ball—literally! Our energizing, full-body fitness class, Have A Ball, incorporates functional training movements that are multi-directional, multi-planar and multi-effective. You will build strength, improve balance, boost flexibility, and torch calories while rotating, swinging, shifting, and lifting your way to better health. Like all Cal-a-Vie classes, “Have a Ball” is a judgment-free zone where every workout feels more like playtime than gym time. (Level 2)

INTERVAL WEIGHT TRAINING CIRCUIT

Get ready for a workout that delivers maximum results in minimal time. Our Interval Weight Training Circuit class blends high-energy cardio intervals to keep your heart rate up with targeted strength exercises to keep all your muscles working. You’ll move through 2-minute circuits of weight training combined with short 3-minute bursts of cardio for a full-body challenge. This classic Cal-a-Vie workout is designed for all fitness levels — our instructors offer modifications and progressions so you can train at your own pace while still pushing your limits. HEATED PILATES FUSION

Heated Pilates Fusion is a unique workout blend of traditional mat Pilates with strength and yoga exercise poses making this a very well-rounded workout. The focus of this workout will be upper body, core, and glutes. Using hand weights, a Pilates ball, gliders, a Pilates ring and more to sculpt, tone, lengthen, strengthen, and align the body. The added heat in this class will help to burn calories and detox the body. (Level 3)


MAT PILATES FLOW*

Discover your strength, length, and flow in this energizing mat-based Pilates class. Designed for those with Pilates experience, Mat Pilates Flow seamlessly blends all Pilates principles for a classical, fluid, full-body workout with dynamic transitions. You will build core stability, improve posture, and enhance flexibility while moving with mindful control. PERFECT POSTURE PILATES

PILATES BALL SHAPE-UP

Sculpt, tone, and strengthen in our energizing Pilates Ball Shape-Up class. PILATES BOOTCAMP

Ignite your core, sculpt your strength, and push past your limits. Through a circuit-style structure, our Pilates Bootcamp fuses the precision of Classical Pilates exercises with the power of high-energy conditioning. Expect dynamic, full-body sequences, resistance training, and cardio bursts that leave your muscles burning—in the best way. The intensity level of this class is higher than standard Pilates. Pilates Bootcamp is great for those who want the Pilates benefits but also want to sweat and feel that “bootcamp burn.” You’ll leave taller, stronger, and unstoppable. (Level 2-3)

PILATES FOR MEN

Build strength, stability, and flexibility in our Pilates for Men mat class, a dynamic practice designed to enhance athletic performance, core power, and overall mobility. PILATES POWER TOOLS

The Pilates Power Tools class is essentially a traditional Pilates mat workout—but with extra small equipment (power tools) that add resistance, instability, or tactile feedback to make the exercises more challenging and engaging. Utilized props may include TheraBand’s, Magic Circles, and both weighted & squishy balls to deepen the experience of intermediate mat exercises. (Level 2-3)

PILATES STRENGTH

Our Pilates Strength class blends traditional Pilates principles with targeted resistance training using the innovative Core First® Bands. You’ll strengthen your body from the inside out, starting with your deep core muscles and building balanced strength through your arms, legs, and back. Using the bands’ adjustable resistance, each move challenges your stability, control, and endurance—whether you’re holding a precise Pilates posture, moving through flowing sequences, or isolating key muscle groups. PILATES STRETCH & RELEASE

Our Pilates Stretch and Release class is a gentler, slower-paced Pilates session focused on improving flexibility, releasing muscular tension, and restoring mobility—rather than building strength or doing fast-paced core work. The class takes a mindful approach; guests are guided in using breathwork to tune in to how their body feels. Pilates Stretch & Release involves slower, modified versions of classic Pilates exercises (e.g., single-leg stretch with long holds). It focuses on elongating muscles rather than contracting them for power. Additionally, use of a foam roller will help improve your posture and balance.(Level 1)

PRENATAL PILATES MAT

Nurture your body and mind in our Prenatal Pilates Mat class, specially designed for expecting mothers. REFORMER ON THE MAT

Experience the best of both worlds in our Reformer on the Mat class, where traditional Pilates Reformer exercises and their purpose are translated to the mat, without losing sight of how the Pilates principles are embedded in each exercise. This dynamic practice strengthens the core, improves posture, and enhances flexibility, all while focusing on precision, control, and mindful movement. Best suited for those versed in the Pilates Reformer exercises, this is a full-body workout that builds strength, balance, and confidence, leaving you feeling energized and aligned. (Level 2)

TABATA PILATES

The Tabata Pilates class blends the high-intensity, timed structure of Tabata training with the slow, controlled, core-focused principles of Pilates — so it’s essentially “Pilates with a turbo button.” The class follows the Tabata format — 20 seconds of intense work, 10 seconds of rest, repeated for 8 rounds (4 minutes per exercise set). Tabata Pilates is faster in pace than traditional Pilates, but still mindful and is low impact. (Level 3)

TRX® PILATES

Our TRX Pilates class blends the principles of Pilates (core strength, alignment, breath, and controlled movement) with TRX suspension training (straps anchored from above that use your own body weight for resistance). The Pilates principles plus TRX mechanics mean almost every move challenge stability. The instability of the straps forces your core and stabilizers to work overtime. TRX Pilates is more dynamic than mat Pilates but still grounded in precise form. This class is great for guests who want a Pilates experience with a slightly more athletic edge. (Level 2)

WALL PILATES

The Wall Pilates class is a variation of traditional Pilates that uses a wall as both a support and resistance tool to enhance your workout. Exercises may be done lying on your back with legs up the wall, standing with your spine pressed to the wall, or in angled positions for balance work. The wall helps align posture (keeping shoulders, hips, and spine stacked). It adds resistance — for example, by pressing hands or feet into the wall during leg lifts, squats, or bridges. Barre Bootcamp switches between barre and floor work several times to keep your body guessing. COUNTRY LINE DANCING

The Cal-a-Vie Country Line Dancing class is like a mix between a workout, a social gathering, and a mini-concert—except the band is in your head and the floor is your stage. The instructor will call out steps over the music—things like "grapevine right," "heel dig," and "pivot turn"—while demonstrating at half speed so beginners can keep up. Guests will arrange themselves in rows, all facing the same direction, and the beauty of line dancing is that you don’t need a partner. Everyone does the same sequence together, so when you nail the timing, it feels like a choreographed flash mob of plaid shirts and denim jeans. (Level 2)

DANCE CHOREOGRAPHY

A dance choreography class is like a blend of a workout, a puzzle, and a mini performance all rolled into one. Our Dance Fusion class blends two or more distinct dance styles into one cohesive movement experience, creating something fresh and versatile. DANCE PARTY

The Dance Party dance class is like a workout that snuck into the club without telling you. The music is upbeat, high-energy, and changes from song to song—anything from current pop hits to old-school funk, Latin beats, or even EDM. Instead of stiff, technical drills, our instructor leads easy-to-follow moves that are all about groove, rhythm, and fun—think hip sways, spins, jumps, and coordinated group steps. There’s no pressure to “get it perfect”; you’re encouraged to freestyle and add your own flair. (Level 2)

DANCE VARIETY

Dance Variety is like a sampler platter for dance lovers — instead of focusing on just one style, it lets guests explore multiple genres in a single class. This dance class gives you exposure to a wide range of dance styles, improves your versatility, and keeps things fresh and exciting. Every class is different, and the music may be contemporary, tap, hip-hop, Latin, ballroom, swing, jazz, modern, or even Broadway show tunes. Our Dance Variety class for beginners (to discover what they like) and advanced movers (to broaden their repertoire). The variety means you’re always challenged and never bored. (Level 2)

DANCING THROUGH THE YEARS

Step into the rhythm of history with Dancing Through the Years, a one-of-a-kind group dance class that celebrates the iconic moves and music of every decade—from the classics of the 1950s & 60s to the electric 2000s and beyond! Whether you're a seasoned dancer or just looking to have fun, this class is designed to get your body moving and your spirits soaring. Each session highlights a different era, teaching signature styles like the Charleston, Swing, Disco, Hip-Hop, and more—all set to the soundtrack of the times. (Level 2)

LATIN DANCE

This warm and inviting Latin Dance class is an energetic, easy to learn, continuous rhythmic dance class comprised of mostly Latin-based moves including Salsa, Merengue, Mambo, and Cha-Cha. Songs are chosen with clear rhythms so students can easily hear the beats and practice timing. Our trained instructors will break down footwork patterns step-by-step — for example, salsa’s “quick-quick-slow” or bachata’s side-to-side sway. This is less like a strict workout and more like joining a little party where you happen to get a great cardio session — hips, feet, and heart all moving together. (Level 2)

ZUMBA

Our Zumba class is like a cardio party disguised as exercise — loud, colorful, sweaty, and way more fun than a treadmill. Zumba is based on the principle that a workout should be fun, easy, and elevate happiness. In our Zumba class the room is alive with upbeat Latin and international music — think salsa, merengue, reggaeton, cumbia, hip hop, and pop. The beats are fast and paired with simple dance choreography and fitness exercises. You’ll do hip shakes, body rolls, steps, squats, lunges, arm movements, and spins to tone and sculpt the body. Moves are repetitive enough that you don’t have to be a pro dancer to keep up. (Level 2)

Aquatics

POOL HOURS & SAFETY

The upper Olympic length pool opens at 9:00am and closes at 6:00pm daily. The lower pool by the guest Villas is available anytime. There is no lifeguard on duty at either pool; and swimming is at your own risk. Glass items are not allowed at either pool. Find bottled water, robes, towels, and sunscreen are provided. Bathing suits are required for swimming and sunbathing as we are not a clothing-optional spa. Showers, shampoo, and conditioner are available at the upper pool. Telephones are located at both pools for your convenience and safety.

AQUA BARRE

Join us in the pool for a Barre class! This is a fusion of Ballet Barre, Pilates, and traditional aquatic exercises. Aqua Barre will focus on strengthening, lengthening, and toning your physique. This workout is easy on your joints and while giving special attention to the muscles of your core and derriere. We emphasize proper technique, alignment, and mindful muscle activation in this class and incorporate easy to follow, ballet-inspired choreography. (Level 1-2)

AQUA CIRCUIT

Aqua Circuit is a non-impact, water-based workout where participants move between different exercise stations in the pool, like a land-based circuit training session. Using a variety of pool equipment and familiar exercises modified for the water, our aqua circuit classes emphasize cardiovascular conditioning, muscle toning, and endurance. (Level 1-2)

AQUA SCULPT

Sculpt, tone, and strengthen in the refreshing embrace of the water! This invigorating, low-impact class combines resistance training, body-sculpting moves, and the natural support of the pool to target every major muscle group. Using water weights, noodles, and the power of resistance, you’ll chisel lean muscles, improve balance, and boost endurance—all while being gentle on your joints. Whether you’re looking to shape up, slim down, or simply shake up your routine, Aqua Sculpt delivers a full-body workout that feels more like fun than fitness. Dive in and sculpt your strongest self! AQUA STRETCH

Take everything from a typical stretch class into one of our breathtaking pools. Using the side of the pool and the pool steps, you will be guided through a full body stretch inclusive your hamstrings, glutes, calves, lats, shoulders, and chest. This is an ideal way to end a morning of vigorous workout and restore your body’s equilibrium. (Level 1)

AQUA TAI CHI

Flow into serenity with Aqua Tai Chi — a gentle, water-based class that blends the slow, mindful movements of traditional Tai Chi with the soothing support of the pool. The water’s buoyancy reduces stress on joints, while resistance enhances strength, balance, and flexibility. Perfect for all fitness levels, this class promotes relaxation, improves posture, and nurtures both body and mind. Step into the water, let your tension melt away, and leave feeling centered, calm, and renewed. (Level 1)

AQUA YOGA

Our Aqua Yoga class takes you through a Vinyasa Flow yoga class in one of our 86° pools. You will be guided into sun salutations A and B, combining movement with breath in the water. The side of the pool and the steps are utilized for lower body exercises and stretching. This is a beautifully inventive way to enjoy your yoga practice outdoors and rediscover your flow. (Level 1-2)

BODY BOARD BOOTCAMP

Challenge your balance and stamina as you are taken through a traditional Bootcamp-style workout on our floating FitMat. Use of this floating fit board is an innovative, challenging, and most of all, fun way to work out in the sun, while staying cool and (almost) in the pool. The Body Board Bootcamp is an interval structured class inclusive of cardio and strength-based movements to sculpt your body, strengthen your core, improve your balance, and boost your overall wellbeing. CARDIO AQUA JOGGING

Make a splash while you get your heart pumping! Cardio Aqua Jogging is a high-energy, low-impact workout that takes running to the pool. Using the natural resistance & buoyancy of water, along with a flotation belt you’ll strengthen muscles, boost endurance, and torch calories—without the joint stress of pounding pavement. Whether you’re recovering from injury, cross-training, or just looking for a fun and refreshing cardio option, this class will have you moving, sweating, and smiling. *By request (Level 2-3)

DEEP WATER EXERCISE

Imagine a spin class where you never sit down, gravity feels lighter, and your hair may end up looking like a mermaid’s—that’s Deep Water Exercise. This challenging workout is held in the deep end of a swimming pool, where participants cannot touch the bottom. Buoyancy belts, foam dumbbells, water noodles, resistance gloves, or ankle cuffs for added challenge are utilized while treading water or practicing traditional swimming strokes. This guided workout strengthens joints, tones muscles, and burns fat. (Level 2-3)

LAP SWIM AT THE UPPER POOL

This “workout of the day” is available for those guests wishing to swim on their own. Just advise the Fitness Department of your intention to use the Upper Pool. (Upon Request)

NAUTICAL FLOW

The Nautical Flow class is a Yoga flow on the floating Fitmat in the Upper Pool. Awareness of the connection between mind and body is the first step toward achieving a fluid state. This class focuses on breathing, movement, stability, and other fundamentals that help create harmony within, while testing your balance in traditional Yoga poses on a floating surface. It is literally a refreshing challenge. (Upper Pool) (Level 2-3)

POOL VOLLEYBALL

Pool Volleyball combines the excitement of volleyball with the refreshing environment of a swimming pool. It’s a fun, low-impact workout that is perfect for all ages and fitness levels. We get the net set up at the Lower Pool for Pool Volleyball at Cal-a-Vie, provide instruction, and then progress to a full game (or two). This is a wonderful social activity and a great way to keep moving while cooling off. (Lower Pool) (Level 2)

POOLATES “PILATES ON THE FITMAT”

Experience and enjoy the best of both worlds: the strength and grace of Pilates and the tranquility of the water. The Poolates class incorporates the fundamental exercises of Mat Pilates while on the floating Fitmat. Our Healthy Joints Matter class is designed to support joint mobility, flexibility, and overall musculoskeletal health—especially for individuals dealing with stiffness, arthritis, or recovering from injury. To keep the body moving without discomfort, you will learn physical therapy techniques which promote joint strength, stability, and range of motion. The cumulative effect is overall joint health improvement. This class will utilize tools such as bands, physio balls, ankle weights, towels and more. Your teacher will share tips on joint care, posture, and lifestyle habits. (Level 1)

MELT METHOD

Restore, refresh, and relieve tension in our MELT Method class, a specialized practice using techniques and self-massage tools to improve mobility, reduce pain, and rebalance the body’s connective tissue. POWER OF THE PELVIC FLOOR

The pelvic floor is the floor of the core and often neglected. Weaknesses in the pelvic floor can magnify as we age. Both chronic stress and unprocessed trauma (physical and emotional) are held in the hips, and especially in the pelvic floor region. In Power of the Pelvic Floor you will locate your pelvic floor, learn how to engage it, relax it, and learn how to use the pelvic floor to build true core strength. A strong, flexible pelvic floor offers ease of movement. It improves your posture, organ function, and even your self-confidence. (Level 1)

ROLL AND RELEASE

Roll and Release uses foam rollers to target tight muscles and connective tissue (fascia). The goal is to reduce stiffness, improve circulation, and restore natural movement patterns. This is a rejuvenating, body-releasing experience designed to help participants unwind tension, improve mobility, and enhance overall physical well-being. ROLL MODEL®

Become a Roll Model®. Come to class and learn self-massage techniques using Jill Miller’s Roll Model® method. This practice of self-care introduces a variety of massage techniques specifically using Jill Miller’s Roll Model® balls. With these props we will explore your body’s web of connective tissue. Your instructor is your tour guide, but you are facilitating the adjustment of pressure, ball placement, and time spent on each trigger point. Walk away empowered with a practice to address targeted tension in the body. We sell the Roll Model® kit in the boutique so that you can practice at home what you learn in class. (Level 1)

SELF-MYOFACIAL RELEASE (HIPS + SHOULDERS)

The two Self-Myofascial Release (SMFR) classes specifically target the areas of the body where we hold the most tension: the hips and shoulders. Myofascia binds the muscle and is part of the continuous web of connective tissue that winds its way through the body. In this class we use the pressure of Roll Model® and Yamuna® balls to facilitate reduced tension and increased flexibility in the myofascia. Each class offers a restorative, mobility-enhancing practice designed to reduce tension, improve range of motion, and support overall hip and shoulder health. The benefits are that of a myofascial release massage, but it is all self-administered. (Level 1)
